Search Tips - What type of accommodation are you interested in?


Search all categories - will produce results of all types of properties except "University Hall room" and "Hostels". These categories need to be chosen separately if you wish to be view this type of accommodation.

Shared house or flat - this type of accommodation is a typical house or flat that is owned by a private landlord or agent. An agent is a company that manages a property on a landlord's behalf. They may also own their own properties, which are available for let. Tenement - These are especially applicable in Scotland and are rooms or a separate room within a house or block.

University Owned / Managed House - Some Universities either own their own houses or manage them on behalf of a private landlord. In the case of the later these are often through what are known as Head Leasing schemes

University Hall Room - these are rooms within a complex, owned by the University / College, that are often reserved for first years but do increasingly allow a percentage of second year plus students to stay. There are a number of different categories including self-catered / catered and en-suite / communal bathroom.

Private Hall Room - similar to University Hall rooms but owned by a private company

Lodgings - these are privately owned flats or houses where the owner resides within the building. The relationship between lodger and landlord / landlady can vary. Some may include meals , some may not.

Hostels - are privately owned or run by a charity. Their set ups can vary with some providing a cheap alternative to hotels for a short-term visit whilst others may provide lets for the full length of your study. Some are based on a communal dormitory basis whilst others provide private rooms

Post grad / Family - this type of accommodation is in the form of a privately owned house or flat. The landlord may prefer some one who is more mature in years and may well accommodate a family.

Staff Accommodation - Accommodation for members of staff. Not always situated in student areas and are usually of higher quality and price.
